Temperature monitoring device for server room

The server room in general consist of many powerful computers since it is the server that manages the remaining computers connected to it via the network. If the server is slow or off that would mean that all the connected workstations are just about useless boxes. Hence it is vital that a server computer be operational at all times.  The server room is usually a small room with all the gear necessary to run the network including the server computer or computers. All computers have a standard temperature at which they should be operated besides which it does pay to maintain the humidity as well. Humidity is one of the main causes of computer hardware including mother board failure. I speak from personal experience when I say that humidity is the worst problem and especially too much of it. The server computer tends to run a lot of processes and it is possible that it is continuous. This heats up the cores and if there isn’t sufficient cooling arranged in the computer it could damage the CPU and even incapacitate it. This is the reason why you will usually find that the server rooms are kept quite cold and are equipped with a powerful air conditioning system to supplement the computer’s own cooling source.

It is easy to monitor the temperature of your computer via the various software that are available. The hottest component of the computer is the CPU and this ideally should be less than 80°C. This doesn’t mean that you can allow the computer processor to run at maximum capacity and at maximum temperature for as long as required. To keep it simple the CPU is safe as far as it does not exceed 80°C, but why processing important tasks it should rarely go above 55°C.  The mother board, memory and hard disk temperatures can be monitored similarly.

Besides this, it very important to maintain the room temperature and humidity as well. The computers will work best only in the optimal temperature, and the minute the room temperature increases it will instantly affect the temperature of the computer components.  Thus temperature monitoring device could come in handy when you are a busy system administrator who cannot always be present in the server room monitoring the temperature and humidity constantly.

The ideal room temperature for a server room is 18°C to 25°C and the humidity is 40% to 50%. Any changes in these parameters can cause the computer to overheat for example, at the same time more humidity can damage the mother board too. In addition to this it is essential to keep the computer clean since a dirty computer runs slower and hotter. Advanticsys is a company that offers several temperature monitoring devices as a solution to the common issues faced by computer system administrators.
